EMSD agrees to re-opening of Chevron LPG filling stations
*********************************************************

¡@¡@In response to the incident on December 11 last year when it was found that the LPG quality at Chevron filling stations failed to comply with the auto-LPG specification, the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD), after reviewing Chevron's investigation report and taking into consideration independent professional advice, has confirmed that the LPG quality complied with the specification and agreed to the re-opening of Chevron filling stations.

¡@¡@The EMSD received Chevron's investigation report on the incident and has accepted its findings, recognising that the cause of this incident was connected with the barge carrying this batch of LPG cargo. The EMSD has urged Chevron to strictly implement improvement measures to avoid recurrence of similar incidents, and will examine the relevant measures in future inspections.

¡@¡@Chevron has completed cleaning, LPG refilling and sampling tests at the LPG filling station involved in the incident, which is located at Fung Shing Street, Po Kong Village. After reviewing third-party test reports submitted by Chevron, the EMSD agreed that Chevron could re-open the filling station. In addition, Chevron will re-open its remaining three LPG filling stations located at Pokfulam Road, Clear Water Bay Road and Sha Tau Kok Road.

The EMSD will continue to enhance measures to strengthen the monitoring of LPG quality. Moreover, the EMSD has requested all LPG supply companies to review their monitoring procedures on the quality of imported LPG with a view to strengthening current practice.
