Police are anxious to locate the next-of-kin of a baby girl who was found abandoned in Happy Valley today (January 6).
At about 1.50pm, a woman found a baby at the stairs outside a church on Broadwood Road. A report was then made to the Police.
The newborn baby girl with umbilical cord is within one-day-old. She was naked and wrapped in some towels and clothes. She was believed to be a South Asian. No identity document was found at scene.
The baby girl, sustaining no apparent injuries, was sent to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital for examinations.
Investigations by the District Investigation Team of Wan Chai are under way.
Police urge relatives of the baby girl or anyone who has information to offer to contact the investigating officers at 3660 7567 or 2835 5200.
