Regional Traffic Day of Hong Kong Island

     Police officers issued a total of 683 Fixed Penalty Tickets (FPTs) and 41 summonses to road users violating traffic regulations during a one-day operation of the Regional Traffic Day on Hong Kong Island.

     The operation concluded at 7pm today (December 6) and a total of 304 officers from Traffic Hong Kong Island and District Traffic Teams of Eastern, Wan Chai, Central and Western were deployed to enforce traffic regulations at traffic black sites on Hong Kong Island.

     A total of 480 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and 203 for other traffic offences.  

    Statistics revealed that a total of 2,756 traffic accidents involving casualties occurred on Hong Kong Island from January to November this year, of which 924 cases involved pedestrian casualties. Among the traffic accidents with pedestrians injured, 50.5 per cent were attributed to the negligence of pedestrians.
