The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, will visit London, Madrid and Barcelona from November 12 to 17.
Mrs Lam will depart for London in the late evening of November 11. While in London from November 12 to 14 she will attend the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) Annual Dinner and a forum hosted by the British Council in London. She will meet with Members of Parliament and senior government officials, as well as a number of business and professional associations, to update them on Hong Kong's latest developments and promote bilateral exchanges. She will also take the opportunity to visit some social enterprises and cultural facilities there. Mrs Lam will be accompanied by the Under Secretary for Home Affairs, Ms Florence Hui, during her stay in London.
Mrs Lam will then proceed to Madrid and Barcelona from November 15 to 17 for meetings with senior government officials and the business community. She will attend a ceremony on the conclusion of agreements concerning mutual legal assistance in criminal matters and transfer of sentenced persons between Hong Kong and Spain, as well as speak at a luncheon organised by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office and HKTDC in Madrid. While in Barcelona she will sign a memorandum of understanding with the Mayor of Barcelona aiming to promote exchanges between Hong Kong and Barcelona on urban planning and waterfront enhancement. Accompanying Mrs Lam on the visit to Spain will be the Permanent Secretary for Development, Mr Wai Chi-sing.
Mrs Lam will return to Hong Kong on November 18. During her absence, the Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, will act as Chief Secretary for Administration.
