CS' speech at Towngas 150th anniversary cocktail reception (with photos/video)
***********************************************************

Following is the speech by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, delivered at the 150th anniversary cocktail reception of Towngas this evening (October 15):

I just want to say a few words in English. Because I notice we have quite a number of English speaking friends in the audience. First of all, I did not deliberately dress in the "gas" colour, this is really accidental. But I do come here to express my appreciation to a public utility company for serving Hong Kong in the last 150 years. Dr Lee (Shau Kee) has shared with you the investment return if you have that smartness to buy the Hong Kong Gas stocks 40 years ago. I came here to particularly commend the company for its corporate social responsibility (CSR) which I have first-hand experience as a Director of Social Welfare and CSR is something that will make Hong Kong much more compassionate and caring. And on this front, I am sure that under Dr Lee¡¦s leadership, the company will go from strength to strength and continue to serve our Hong Kong people well. So happy birthday on the 150th anniversary and I also wish all of you and Dr Lee good health in the days ahead. Thank you very much.
