Senior Special Assistant to CS takes office today

     The Government announced today (October 3) that Ms Lam Lit-kwan has taken up the post of Senior Special Assistant to the Chief Secretary for Administration.  This is a non-civil service appointment with a contract period from October 3, 2012 to March 31, 2013.

     Ms Lam's major duties during this six-month period include providing advice and support to the Chief Secretary for Administration in co-ordinating policies and strategies, in particular on matters relating to poverty alleviation and population policy, as well as those requiring deliberations at high-level policy forums.  She will also assist in the establishment of the new Commission on Poverty the secretariat of which will be housed in the Chief Secretary for Administration's Office in view of the need for high-level co-ordination amongst relevant bureaux and departments.

     Ms Lam is a town planner by professional training. During her years in the public service, Ms Lam was responsible for a wide range of duties, including research and analysis, programme management, policy formulation and co-ordination, and management of public consultation.  She was an Assistant Director of the Housing Department before she left the Government in 2006.
