SCED continues his visit to Tianjin

     The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, today (September 20) continued his visit to Tianjin.

     In the morning, Mr So and the Commissioner for Tourism, Mr Philip Yung, attended the opening of the 2012 China Tourism Industries Exposition (CTIE) jointly organised by the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) and the Tianjin Municipal People's Government, and toured around the exposition.

     The CTIE has been held successfully in Tianjin for three years since 2009, attracting the participation of representatives from more than 80 countries and regions and 31 provinces and cities. The theme of this year's event is "A festival of tourism industries, a platform for win-win co-operation".

     After attending the exposition, Mr So paid a courtesy call on the Vice Mayor of Tianjin, Mr Ren Xuefeng.

     In the afternoon, Mr So and his group from the Tourism Commission visited the Tianjin International Cruise Home Port. They visited various areas at the terminal, including the check-in counter and baggage handling area, the immigration and customs clearance area, the passenger waiting hall and the apron area.

     Mr So then departed for Beijing. He will co-chair the 2012 Hong Kong and the Mainland Tourism Working Meeting with the Chairman of the CNTA, Mr Shao Qiwei, tomorrow (September 21). He will return to Hong Kong after the meeting.
