Government statement

In response to the rumours which alleged that the Government would disrupt the proceedings of the public assembly at the Central Government Offices by sending fake protesters, a Government spokesman today (September 7) stressed that the rumours were totally untrue and groundless.

The Government spokesman stated that the Chief Executive repeatedly reiterated that he had given clear instructions to the Police to demonstrate the greatest tolerance while handling the public meeting at the Central Government Offices. No clearance plan has ever been in place.

The Government spokesman called on the participants to remain rational.
