FS enjoys lunch with senior business representatives in Russia
********************************************************

The Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, today (August 28) had lunch with speakers and senior Russian business representatives who attended a seminar co-organised by Invest Hong Kong and the Zhuhai Municipal People's Government in Moscow.

Mr Tsang said, "Russia is an emerging market which we have been striving to explore in recent years. Bilateral trade between Hong Kong and Russia has recorded double-digit increases and even reached 44 per cent growth in the first half of this year. We hope more Russian companies will invest and set up businesses in Hong Kong in order to reduce the reliance of Hong Kong's economy on traditional markets, and to strengthen Hong Kong's protection against the fluctuations in the external economic environment in the long run.

"The seminar co-organised by Hong Kong and Zhuhai to promote business demonstrates the combined advantages and competitiveness of the Pearl River Delta and the synergy of collaboration. It also reinforces Hong Kong's position as the premier location for foreign enterprises seeking to tap business opportunities in the Mainland market. We will continue to enhance collaboration with different provinces and cities in this regard."

Mr Tsang is visiting Moscow from August 28 to 31 for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Finance Ministers' Meeting. He is also taking the opportunity to meet senior representatives of Russia's financial and business sectors to strengthen bilateral economic relations.
