Special traffic and transport arrangements in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay this Saturday
************************************************************

The Transport Department (TD) today (August 23) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay this Saturday (August 25) to facilitate the holding of the Mainland Olympic Gold Medallists Extravaganza at the Hong Kong Stadium.

The special traffic and transport arrangements will mainly include:

* From about 1.30pm onwards, the section of Caroline Hill Road between Leighton Road and Cotton Path, and the section of Hysan Avenue westbound between Sunning Road and Hoi Ping Road will be closed.

* From about 6pm onwards, Caroline Hill Road, Eastern Hospital Road, Eastern Hospital Road service road, Cotton Path and Hoi Ping Road will be closed to facilitate the dispersal of spectators, until the crowd disperses and road closures are lifted.

* During the period of road closures, Citybus Route 5B, Green Minibus Routes 14M, 26 and 30, and Residents' Service Route HR51 will be temporarily diverted.

* From about 5.30pm, franchised buses of Cross Harbour Route 117R (Hong Kong Stadium to Mong Kok) will be operated.

* On-street car parking spaces and car parks within the affected areas will be suspended.

The TD anticipates that traffic in the vicinity of So Kon Po and Causeway Bay will be congested. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. Members of the public planning to go to the affected area are advised to use public transport as far as possible.

The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and the members of public are advised to watch out for the latest traffic news broadcast via radio and television channels.

Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are now available on the TD website (www.td.gov.hk).
