Japanese restaurant Go Go Curry opened its second shop in Hong Kong today (August 15), to make use of the city's central location in Asia to extend its reach in the region.

The new Go Go Curry shop in Hong Kong, the brand's 55th worldwide, is located in the Causeway Bay tourist hotspot. The restaurant chain's debut Hong Kong shop opened in the same downtown district in May 2012. Go Go Curry is planning a gradual expansion in Hong Kong, aiming to open five outlets in Hong Kong by May 5, 2013, riding on the similar pronunciation of the words "five" and "go" in Japanese.

The Founder and President of Go Go Curry, Hirokazu Miyamori, said, "We would like to cultivate a new market for Japanese curry and give an alternative choice for curry lovers. As Hong Kong is strategically located at the heart of Asia, we decided to base ourselves here in order to spread the concept and strengthen our business in Asia."

"Hong Kong plays a leading role as the regional economic and business centre.  The Hong Kong office manages our operations in Hong Kong but eventually it will be the regional office overseeing our Asian operations and its role will become more important." he added.

The Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion, Mr Andrew Davis, welcomed Go Go Curry's expansion in Hong Kong and said, "Hong Kong is renowned as the culinary capital of Asia. Dining out is a regular activity for local residents, plus a growing number of international visitors, which makes the city an excellent place to promote the company's food concept and get its brand known to the world."
