Summer Fun Party 2012 - Aloha! Summer Fiesta to take audiences on colourful world tour

     Summer Fun Party 2012 - Aloha! Summer Fiesta, organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, will feature the theme of world cultures this year. The programme will be held this weekend (August 4 and 5) at Queen Elizabeth Stadium, Wan Chai, and next Tuesday and Wednesday (August 7 and 8) at Sha Tin Town Hall Auditorium, showcasing a variety of cultural performances and interesting activities. Admission to all the programmes is free.

     Different programmes will be featured at the two venues. Details are as follows:

1. Dates: August 4 and 5
   Time: 2.30pm to 5.30pm
   Venue: Queen Elizabeth Stadium, Wan Chai
   Programmes: A cappella; orchestral concert;
               Cantonese opera by children;
               Chinese and Korean folk dances;
               capoeira; Latin American dance and
               standard dance by children;
               African drum, harp and handbell
               performances and workshops;
               story corner; and makeover game stalls.

2. Dates: August 7 and 8
   Time: 2.30pm to 5.30pm
         (Three performances each day, commencing at
          2.30pm, 3.30pm and 4.30pm)
   Venue: Sha Tin Town Hall Auditorium
   Programme: Children's Adventure Theatre

     Apart from offering colourful shows, the carnival at Queen Elizabeth Stadium will also feature a story corner where children can listen to the stories of Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp and the Tortoise and the Hare. They can also dress up as little American Indians, Dutch girls or Hawaiians through making costumes such as an Indian feathered headdress, a Dutch hat and a Hawaiian lei.

     Children's Adventure Theatre, to be held at Sha Tin Town Hall Auditorium, will take audiences on an adventure all over the world, with sights including the Great Wall, the Eiffel Tower, the pyramids, the Statue of Liberty and the Sydney Opera House. During the show, audiences will also be invited to join the fun in creating amazing stage effects. The show will be conducted in Cantonese with free admission on a first-come, first-served basis.
