In response to media enquiries concerning a press report today (July 19) on updating of registered addresses of electors, a spokesman for the Registration and Electoral Office (REO) issued the following response:
"Registered electors should report any changes in registered residential addresses or other registration particulars, for example, after they have moved home, to the REO as soon as possible to update their electoral records. In accordance with the electoral laws, electors should submit applications for updating registration particulars by the statutory deadline of June 29 (or August 29 in a District Council election year). If an elector has moved home before the statutory deadline, he should inform the REO by June 29 so that his record can be updated in the final register of electors. If an elector moves home after the statutory deadline, he should inform the REO as soon as he has done so to facilitate the REO to update the record in the final register of electors for the next year."
