Police are investigating a traffic accident in Tai Po in the small hours of today (July 3) in which a 58-year-old man was killed and eight people were injured.
At about 2am, a public light bus (PLB) driven by a 24-year-old man was travelling along Tolo Highway towards Sheung Shui. When reaching Fanling Highway near Hong Lok Yuen , it reportedly hit a police vehicle stopped on the road.
Nine PLB passengers, including six men and three women aged from 16 to 58, were injured and sent to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital and Prince of Wales Hospital (PWH) respectively for medical treatment. The 58-year-old man was certified dead at PWH at 3.21am.
The PLB driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North are under way.
