HKSAR Government welcomes measures to strengthen Mainland-Hong Kong co-operation

     The HKSAR (SAR) Government today (June 28) was informed by the Central Government that, prior to the visit of President Hu Jintao later this month, a package of policy measures will be announced to strengthen co-operation between the Mainland and Hong Kong. The Government welcomes and appreciates the measures.

     "The series of supportive measures announced by the Central Government last year are being implemented. The good news which President Hu brings to Hong Kong people demonstrates once again the Central Government's support for the SAR," said the Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang.

     "The package of more than 30 measures to be introduced by the Central Government covers the areas of trade, finance, education, science, technology, tourism and Hong Kong-Guangdong co-operation. They are crucial to the sustainable development of our economy and community."

     The package will further strengthen co-operation between the Mainland and Hong Kong to the benefit of both, enabling Hong Kong to contribute to the nation's development with her unique advantages.
