FEHD orders food factory to suspend business for three weeks

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a food factory in Yuen Long to suspend business for 21 days.

The operator repeatedly breached the Food Business Regulation by illegally extending the food business area.

The food factory, located at Shop 14B on the ground floor of Ho Sing Building at 28 Kam Fai Path, was ordered to suspend business from today (May 3) to May 23.

"Four convictions on the breach were recorded against the food establishment in February," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

"A total fine of $12,000 was levied by the court and 60 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in a seven-day and 14-day business suspension running consecutively," he added.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
