************************************************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Executive-elect, Mr C Y Leung, at a media session after receiving from Premier Wen Jiabao the instrument of appointment in Beijing this afternoon (April 10):

Reporter: Mr Leung, do you think it's kind of embarrassing that Hong Kong has to be reminded of the importance of clean government, and will you amend the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance to include the post of Chief Executive?

Chief Executive-elect: We in Hong Kong should keep on reminding ourselves. Indeed, over the last few weeks I've been reminding Hong Kong and also the team that I am forming, and also everyone in Hong Kong, the importance of clean government. It is something we have upheld as one of our core values over the years, and I shall continue to uphold this value.

Reporter: Will you amend the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance?

Chief Executive-elect: Well, I have actually said that a few weeks ago, that I shall apply what now applies to the civil service to the Chief Executive, namely myself.
