Transcript of remarks by CE (with photos/videos)

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, at a media session after meeting the Chief Executive-elect, Mr Leung Chun-ying, at the Office of the Chief Executive at Tamar this morning (March 26):

First of all, I have taken the opportunity to congratulate Mr C Y Leung again for his election as the next Chief Executive of the HKSAR. The election process was smooth, and it underlines the success of the "One Country, Two Systems" and "Hong Kong people running Hong Kong". It was also an important milestone in our constitutional development.

As I have told friends of the media before, one of the most important remaining tasks of my term is to ensure that there will be a smooth transition of administration. So this morning we got together and agreed on the key elements of the transitional tasks. I am sure in the months ahead, my office, the Chief Executive's Office, as well as the Office of the Chief Executive-elect, will ensure all these tasks will be well performed.

To assist the Chief Executive-elect, as you know we have already formed a Chief Executive-elect's Office, which will be properly staffed to help C Y to form his new administration.

The work of the Chief Executive carries enormous responsibilities. My team and myself will dedicate ourselves to ensure that C Y will receive maximum support from us. And I would urge Hong Kong people that having conducted an election in which a lot all rallied around to support Mr C Y Leung to be our next Chief Executive, (to support him to) ensure that he will lead us to a more prosperous tomorrow. Thank you very much.
