Approved Tuen Mun Outline Zoning Plan amended
*********************************************

The Town Planning Board (the Board) today (March 23) announced amendments to the approved Tuen Mun Outline Zoning Plan (OZP).

The amendments mainly involve the rezoning of sites to the west of the West Rail Tuen Mun Station from "Industrial" to "Comprehensive Development Area (1)" and "Comprehensive Development Area (2)" zones for residential and commerical uses, "Other Specified Uses" annotated "Business" zone for general business uses and "Commercial (1)" for commercial uses respectively.  Moreover, a site at Wu On Street is rezoned from "Government, Institution or Community" ("G/IC") to "Residential (Group A)" and two sites at So Kwun Wat Road are rezoned mainly from "G/IC" to "Residential (Group B)" to provide land to meet housing demand.  In addition, a site at the southeast junction of Castle Peak Road and Hoi Wing Road is rezoned from "Green Belt" to "G/IC" to optimise the use of the site, which is currently being used as a temporary works area.  A proposed road is also shown on the OZP to reflect the planning intention to enhance accessibility to the northern part of Tuen Mun. The form and alignment of the proposed road is subject to detailed design.

The draft Tuen Mun OZP No. S/TM/29, incorporating the amendments, is now available for public inspection during office hours at the Secretariat of the Town Planning Board, the Planning Enquiry Counters in North Point and Sha Tin, the Tuen Mun and Yuen Long District Planning Office, the Tuen Mun District Office and the Tuen Mun Rural Committee.

Any person can make written representation in respect of the amendments to the Secretary of the Town Planning Board on or before May 23. Representations made to the Town Planning Board will be available for public inspection.

Copies of the draft OZP are available for sale at the Map Publications Centres in North Point and Yau Ma Tei. The electronic version of the OZP can be viewed on the Town Planning Board's website at www.info.gov.hk/tpb.
