The Hong Kong Music Lover Chinese Orchestra will stage concerts featuring puppetry performer Santa Jim and host and narrator Tang Wing-hong in April.
The concerts will present a fusion of Chinese music, puppetry and video images, and people of all ages will be able to enrich their knowledge of nature and history while enjoying the performances.
Under the baton of Wai Sing-fat, the orchestra will perform the first movement of "Capriccio of the Sea", entitled "Seagulls Flying Above the Foaming Waves"; "The Dragon Boat Race"; "Childhood Memories"; "Song of Fishermen in the East Sea"; "Somewhere Far Away"; "Gandhanra"; and several solo songs. The crossover of puppetry and Chinese traditional musical works will offer the audience a new experience.
Established in 1979, the Hong Kong Music Lover Chinese Orchestra aims to promote Chinese music and carry its rich heritage forward for the benefit of future generations. Its members are professionally trained recitalists and winners of the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival. Some members were selected by the Music Office as "Hong Kong Elites" to give touring performances abroad.
On the 30th anniversary of its foundation in 2009, the orchestra invited friends from Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Australia and Sichuan, China, to perform in a concert in Hong Kong. The orchestra has also released many recordings on both cassette and CD, including the gold disc winner "Fishermen's Song of the East Sea".
