Police amended the charge on a man to dangerous driving causing death

     Police today (December 12) laid an amended charge of dangerous driving causing death on a 61-year-old man in accordance with the initial advice from the Department of Justice (DOJ).

     The man was arrested in connection with a fatal traffic accident that took place on Pollock's Path on the Peak on November 26. He was subsequently charged with one count of murder upon Police investigation.  The case was heard at Eastern Magistrates' Courts today and Police amended the charge to dangerous driving causing death based on DOJ's initial advice.

     The defendant has been released on court bail and will appear in Eastern Magistrates' Courts on February 6, 2012.

     Central District Crime Squad continues to conduct active investigation into this case along all necessary lines of enquiry.  Upon conclusion of the investigation, the case file shall be sent to DOJ for final advice and a different charge might result.
