Speech by CS at Hong Kong Coalition of Professional Services anniversary celebration dinner (with photo/video)
************************************************************

Following is the speech (English portion) by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Stephen Lam, at the 10th anniversary celebration dinner of the Hong Kong Coalition of Professional Services this evening (November 21):

I'm very pleased to be able to join you today to celebrate the 10th anniversary of this forum. I see that among ourselves, we have some expatriate colleagues and friends, and personally I value very highly your presence in Hong Kong. For over 30 years I have served in Hong Kong Government, and many expatriate colleagues in the administration, like your good selves, when they first arrived in Hong Kong, in the 1970s or earlier, they thought they would stay for two years or three. Many of them like you have made Hong Kong their home, established a family, and built their careers here. But aside from building their careers, they have actually helped build Hong Kong's what it is today ¡V an international financial centre, and we proudly call ourselves "Asia's world city". The presence of Hong Kong's very advanced professions and the impeccable high standards which our professionals maintain help make Hong Kong what it is today. So I would encourage all of you to continue to strengthen your links with counterparts, professional bodies around the world, and maintain your professional and personal links with overseas communities.

(Please also refer to the Chinese portion of the speech.)
