The Government today (November 18) announced the appointment of two new members and re-appointment of eight incumbent members to the Social Welfare Advisory Committee (SWAC) for a term of two years with effect from December 1, 2011.
The two new members are Mr Hansen Lee Hong-kong and Mr Edmond Lee Man-bun.
Mr Hansen Lee Hong-kong is a member of the Rehabilitation Advisory Committee (RAC) and also the Chairman of the Sub-committee on Access under the RAC. He is conversant with the rehabilitation service and committed to promoting the well-being of the persons with disabilities.
Mr Edmond Lee Man-bun comes from the business sector. He is the incumbent Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Yan Chai Hospital. He is dedicated to community service and devoted to supporting the disadvantaged.
The eight re-appointed members are: Ms Maggie Chan Mei-kit, Ms Lam Shuk-yee, Mr Christopher Law Kin-chung, Mrs Agnes Mak Tang Pik-yee, Mrs Teresa Tsien Wong Bik-kwan, Mr Jovy Suen Leung-kwong, Dr Sandra Tsang Kit-man and Mr Michael Wong Yick-kam.
The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, welcomed the appointments. He said, "I look forward to the members' valuable advice on the development of Hong Kong's social welfare policy."
He also thanked the out-going members, Mr Timothy Ma Kam-wah and Dr Jimmy Wong Chi-ho, for their sterling contribution during their term of service.
SWAC reviews social welfare services from time to time and advises the Government on all matters of social welfare policy.
