District Cantonese Opera Parade to showcase new force in the art form
************************************************************

The performances for the upcoming 2011/12 District Cantonese Opera Parade will be staged from December 29, 2011 to March 11, 2012.

The District Cantonese Opera Parade seeks to promote Cantonese opera and increase performance opportunities for budding and amateur Cantonese opera troupes by providing extra financial support, performance venues and publicity. Since 1988, with the support of various Cantonese Opera troupes and the recommendations of five artistic advisors, namely Tse Suet-sum, Wong Chin-kwan, Sun Kim-long, Lung Kwun-tin and Liu Kwok-sum, the artistic merits of participating troupes have been much enhanced by joining the programme. This year, four amateur Cantonese Opera troupes ¡V Streaming Chinese Opera, Moon on the Water Xiqu Association, Opera Artist Club and Sam Po Cantonese Opera Troupe ¡V will perform in the parade for the first time.
