Lunar New Year Fair stalls at Lam Tsuen, Tai Po, to be auctioned on November 29
*******************************************************

The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) announced today (November 17) that a public auction for stalls at the 2012 Fong Ma Po Lunar New Year Fair at Lam Tsuen, Tai Po, will be held on November 29.

The 15-day fair will be held from January 23 to February 6, from 8am to 6pm daily.

The opening prices for the 22 dry goods stalls and six wet goods stalls are $1,000 and $990 respectively.

The auction will begin at 9.30am at Tai Po Community Centre. Dry goods stalls will be auctioned first, followed by wet goods stalls.

Bidders must be at least 18 years old and ordinary residents in Hong Kong.

They can bid for more than one stall. After successfully bidding for a stall, the bidder must immediately pay the bid price and register in his or her own name as the licensee of the stall.

The bidder is also required to sign at once an express warranty and a licence agreement with the FEHD, or will forfeit the rights to operate the stall, and the stall concerned will be re-auctioned immediately.

For the conservation of the Wish-Making Trees, stall operators will not be allowed to sell placards tied with any heavy object (including fruit). The licence agreements of those who fail to comply with the requirement will be terminated.

Arrangements to protect the Wish-Making Trees are made by the departments concerned and co-ordinated by the Tai Po District Office of the Home Affairs Department with support from local residents.

The fair site will be made available three days in advance for the setting up of stalls from January 20 to 22. However, no business shall be conducted on these three days.

Stall licensees must remove their stall structures and paraphernalia, together with refuse, debris and unsold commodities (whether damaged or otherwise) from the licensed area before 6pm on February 6, 2012.

Stall licensees should not mutilate, destroy, damage or abandon any unsold commodities at or in the vicinity of their stalls.

For more information about the auction, please call the FEHD Tai Po District Environmental Hygiene Office at 3183 9108 or 2657 1137.
