Russian National Youth Team to visit Hong Kong

     The Russian National Youth Team will come to Hong Kong on November 13 (Sunday) for a six-day visit with the aim of enhancing sports and youth exchange between Hong Kong and Russia.

     The Russian football team will visit the Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI) on the morning of November 14 (Monday), trying out the HKSI's world-class training facilities and meeting with a number of our coaches and elite athletes. They will also train at the athletics field of the Institute.

     On the evening of November 15 (Tuesday), the Russian team will play against the Hong Kong Youth Representative Team at Mong Kok Stadium. This international friendly match will also mark the re-opening of the Stadium, which has undergone a $275.5 million renovation.

     During their stay in Hong Kong, the Russian team will also meet with players from a local football club and a secondary school.

     The team will conclude their visit on November 18.

     The visit of the Russian National Youth Team originates from the visit of the President of the Russian Federation, Mr Dmitry Medvedev, to Hong Kong in April this year. At a meeting with the Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, he responded positively to Mr Tsang's suggestion to invite a Russian football team to play in Hong Kong.
