Cantonese opera stars from Pearl River Delta region to perform in Hong Kong

     Cantonese opera stars from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao will collaborate in a cultural co-operation project, "A Showcase of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Cantonese Opera Masters", in December.

     Artists from the Guangdong Cantonese Opera Theatre and the Guangzhou Cantonese Opera Troupe, including Ding Fan, Ou Kaiming, Mai Yuqing, Jiang Wenduan, Peng Qinghua and Wang Yanfei, will perform "Vengeance at the Lion's Mansion", "Wu Han Killing His Wife at the Sutra Hall" and "A Fond Pledge by the Blooming Flowers"; while the Pear Garden Cantonese Opera Troupe of Hong Kong will perform "On Ascending the Throne" from "The Villain, The General and The Heroic Beauty" and "The Ten Memorials" from "Impeachment of Yan Song", featuring Wan Fai-yin, Yau Sing-po, Yam Bing-yee, Yuen Siu-fai, Lee Lung, Ko Lai, Wan Yuk-yu, Sun Kim-long, Liu Kwok-sum and Lai Yiu-wai. In addition, Chu Chan Wa and Jose Tang from the Macao General Association of Chinese Opera and Music will also perform "Finding the Rat" from "Fifteen Strings of Cash".

     "A Showcase of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Cantonese Opera Masters" is jointly presented by the Department of Culture of Guangdong Province, the Home Affairs Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region, and organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. It will take place at 7.30pm on December 21 (Wednesday) at the Auditorium, Sha Tin Town Hall. Tickets priced at $100, $160, $240 and $320 are now available at URBTIX outlets, on the Internet and by credit card telephone booking. Senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities and their minders, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients may receive a 50 per cent discount (limited tickets for full-time students and CSSA recipients on a first-come, first-served basis). The production is one of the celebrating programmes of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Sha Tin Town Hall.
