Appointments to Committee and Review Committee on Trust Fund for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome

     The Government announced today (October 28) the re-appointment of the Chairperson, Ms Deborah Wan Lai-yau, and four incumbent members to the Committee on Trust Fund for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) for a term of two years with effect from November 8.

     The re-appointed members are Dr Margaret Chung Wai-ling, Mr Fong Cheung-fat, Dr James Joseph Lam and Mr Wong King-lun.

     The Government also re-appointed Dr Jane Chan Chun-kwong and Mr Timothy Ma Kam-wah as the members of the Review Committee on Trust Fund for SARS. The re-appointments are for terms of two years and one year respectively with effect from November 8.

     The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, welcomed the re-appointments and looked forward to the members' contribution to the work of the two committees.

     The Committee on Trust Fund for SARS was set up in 2003 to advise the Administration on the operation of and applications for assistance under the Trust Fund. The Review Committee was set up at the same time to consider applications for review of the decisions made by the Committee on Trust Fund for SARS.
