The Chief Executive in Council has approved the draft Chek Lap Kok Outline Zoning Plan (OZP).
"The approved OZP provides a statutory land use planning framework to guide the development and redevelopment in the Chek Lap Kok area," a spokesman for the Town Planning Board said today (October 21).
The Planning Scheme Area, about 1,445 hectares in size, covering the airport island, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities, HZMB Hong Kong Link Road and the Southern Landfall of Tuen Mun-Chek Lap Kok Link at Chek Lap Kok, is located off the north shore of Lantau and separated physically from the new town development in Tung Chung by a 200-metre-wide water channel.
About 118.18 hectares of land is zoned "Commercial" for commercial developments and airport-related and other business activities.
About 12.3 hectares of land is zoned "Government, Institution or Community" for the provision of Government, institution or community facilities to support the airport operations and to serve the needs of other developments on the airport island.
About 1,220.12 hectares of land is zoned "Other Specified Uses" to provide or reserve sites for specified uses. For instance, the Hong Kong International Airport site has been designated as an airport zone which is primarily for the development of airport operational facilities.
About 21.3 hectares of land is zoned "Green Belt" to preserve the existing natural landscape at the knoll in the south-eastern tip of the airport island to provide a visual and environmental buffer for the adjacent new town development.
The approved Chek Lap Kok OZP No. S/I-CLK/12 is now available for public inspection during office hours at the Secretariat of the Town Planning Board, the Planning Enquiry Counters in North Point and Sha Tin, the Sai Kung and Islands District Planning Office and the Islands District Office.
Copies of the approved plan are available for sale at the Map Publications Centres in North Point and Yau Ma Tei. The electronic version of the plan can be viewed at the Town Planning Board's website (www.info.gov.hk/tpb).
