Special traffic and transport arrangements in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay on Sunday

The Transport Department (TD) today (October 20) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements would be implemented in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay this Sunday (October 23) to facilitate the holding of religious events at the Hong Kong Stadium.

The special traffic and transport arrangements mainly include:

* From about 9am, the section of Caroline Hill Road between its eastern junction with Leighton Road and Cotton Path, and the section of Hysan Avenue westbound between Sunning Road and Hoi Ping Road will be closed.

* From about 5.30pm, Caroline Hill Road, Eastern Hospital Road, Cotton Path, Link Road northbound and Hoi Ping Road will be closed to facilitate the dispersal of spectators until crowd have dispersed and road closures are lifted.

* During the period of road closures, Citybus Route 5B, Green Minibus Routes 14M, 26 and 30, and Residents' Service Route HR51 will be temporarily diverted.

* From about 5pm, franchised buses of cross-harbour Route 117R (Hong Kong Stadium to Mong Kok) will be operated.

* On-street car parking spaces and car parks within the affected areas will be suspended.

In addition, due to the horse race meeting in Happy Valley and the move-out activities of exhibitions held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre this Sunday, the TD anticipates that the traffic in Wan Chai and Causeway Bay will be more congested than on normal Sundays. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police.  Members of the public planning to go to the affected area are advised to use public transport as far as possible.

The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and members of the public are advised to watch out for the latest traffic news on radio and television.

Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are now available on the TD's website (
