The Secretary for Home Affairs (SHA), Mr Tsang Tak-sing, today (October 4) presented commendation certificates and award pins to 31 people for their outstanding contribution to the promotion of sports and recreation, arts and culture, and community greening.

Speaking at the SHA's Commendation Scheme Presentation Ceremony 2011, held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Mr Tsang praised the awardees for their endeavours in past years, saying that they had not only made outstanding performances in their careers, but had also actively taken up the responsibility of building society.

He said they contributed to the community with their own specialties and were now getting the recognition they deserved.

He hoped their remarkable performance would inspire more people to follow suit in serving and benefiting the community.

The SHA's Commendation Scheme, introduced in 2002, aims to recognise individuals who make an outstanding contribution to the development of sports, culture and arts, community building and community service.
