SLW congratulates HK representatives for winning awards at International Abilympics

     The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, today (October 1) congratulated the Hong Kong delegation to the International Abilympics 2011 on winning two Gold Awards and five special prizes. The International Abilympics is a contest of great renown in the rehabilitation sector. Held every four years, the event sees the world's best contestants with disabilities put their skills to the test, promoting the ability and talent of persons with disabilities.

     Commending their remarkable performance, Mr Cheung said, "The Hong Kong representatives have achieved excellent results in the International Abilympics and demonstrated to the world their ability and talent in various aspects. I extend my warmest congratulations to the winners for their marvellous accomplishments and my tribute to all the Hong Kong representatives who enthralled us by demonstrating tremendous skills and tenacity in these highly competitive games."

     The International Abilympics 2011 was held in Seoul, South Korea, from September 25 to 30. The delegation from Hong Kong comprised 25 persons with disabilities taking part in 23 skills contests involving contestants from 57 countries and regions. Awardees of the Hong Kong delegation are as follows:
