Draft Ko Lau Wan Development Permission Area Plan gazetted
**********************************************************

The Town Planning Board today (August 26) announced the publication of the draft Ko Lau Wan Development Permission Area (DPA) Plan.

The draft Ko Lau Wan DPA Plan covers a total area of about 36 hectares. It is located at the north-eastern end of the Sai Kung Peninsula, with Sai Kung East Country Park surrounding it on the east and south, and Long Harbour and Mirs Bay lying to its west and north.

A spokesman for the Town Planning Board said the general planning intention is to protect the high landscape value and rural settings of the area, which complements the overall naturalness and the landscape beauty of the surrounding Sai Kung East Country Park. The planning intention is also to reflect the existing recognised villages of Ko Lau Wan and Tan Ka Wan.

About 2.61 hectares of the area is zoned "Village Type Development" to reflect existing the recognised villages. The remaining 33.29 hectares of the area is designated as "Unspecified Use", pending detailed analysis and studies to establish the appropriate land uses in the course of preparing an Outline Zoning Plan.

The draft Ko Lau Wan DPA Plan is now available for public inspection during office hours at the secretariat of the Town Planning Board; the Planning Enquiry Counters of the Planning Department in North Point and Sha Tin; the Sha Tin, Tai Po and North District Planning Office; the Tai Po District Office; and the Sai Kung North Rural Committee.

Any person may make written representations in respect of the draft plan to the Secretary of the Board on or before October 26.

Copies of the draft plan are available for sale at the Map Publications Centres in North Point and Yau Ma Tei. The electronic version of the plan can be viewed at the Town Planning Board's website (www.info.gov.hk/tpb).
