The "District Chinese Opera Parade 2011/12", organised and presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), is now open for applications.
The "District Cantonese Opera Parade" seeks to promote Cantonese Opera and provide performance opportunities for budding and locally registered non-profit making amateur Cantonese Opera troupes.
Selected troupes will be able to perform at a range of venues from the end of December 2011 to March 2012, including Ngau Chi Wan Civic Centre, Sheung Wan Civic Centre, Tai Po Civic Centre and the Jockey Club Auditorium of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Subsidies will also be granted to cover the troupe's production expenses.
Assessment of the applicants will be based on artistic merit, performance experience, organisational ability, concept and characteristics of the proposed play title, cast list and the troupe's overall past efforts in grooming budding performers and promoting Cantonese Opera.
Application forms are available at Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Hong Kong City Hall, Sheung Wan Civic Centre, Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre, Ngau Chi Wan Civic Centre, Ko Shan Theatre, Sha Tin Town Hall, Tai Po Civic Centre, North District Town Hall, Tsuen Wan Town Hall, Kwai Tsing Theatre, Tuen Mun Town Hall, Yuen Long Theatre and the Audience Building Office of the LCSD. It is also available for download at www.lcsd.gov.hk/ab .
Completed application forms should reach the Audience Building Office of the LCSD (address: Podium, Administration Building, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, 10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon) before 6pm, July 14 (Thursday) by hand, or by post. "Application for 'District Chinese Opera Parade 2011/12'" should be clearly marked on the envelope. Late applications will not be accepted.
