LC: Closing remarks by CS in moving resolution on appointment of non-permanent judges to Court of Final Appeal

     Following are the closing remarks by the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang, in moving the Resolution under Article 73(7) of the Basic Law and Section 7A of the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal Ordinance at the meeting of the Legislative Council today (June 8):

Madam President,

     I would like to thank Members for their support of the proposed appointments and for your views.

     Lord Collins and Lord Clarke are judges with eminent standing.  Their appointments will contribute to the CFA in continuing its important role in upholding the rule of law.

     I invite Members to endorse the appointments.
