Following is the transcript (English portion) of remarks by the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, on the Work Incentive Transport Subsidy Scheme after attending the Legislative Council's Finance Committee special meeting today (February 25):
I am very grateful to all parties and Legislative Council members who supported the proposal for the Work Incentive Transport Subsidy Scheme which received the green light from the Finance Committee just now. We will now press ahead with all the preparation work and ensure the scheme will roll out by October this year for the sake of 436,000 potential beneficiaries. We hope that the first payment amounting to $3,600 will be made available to them before the end of this year.
