The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) today (January 18) announced the latest batch of results of the LPG quality tests on the EMSD website (www.emsd.gov.hk/emsd/eng/sgi/lpg_smpl_analysis.shtml).
From early January 2010 to end of December 2010, the EMSD has delivered a total of 124 LPG samples collected from 61 Auto LPG filling stations and four LPG terminals to an accredited laboratory for quality tests against the Auto LPG Specification. The testing results show that LPG quality does not affect the performance of vehicles.
The quality test results of LPG samples are published and updated on a weekly basis, and are obtainable from the EMSD's website or upon request via the EMSD's hotline, 2333 3762.
In addition, the EMSD has been vetting the independent third-party test reports submitted by LPG supply companies for each shipment to ensure that the quality of the imported LPG complies with the specified requirements.
"To enhance the monitoring of LPG quality, the EMSD has launched the LPG sampling scheme by taking random LPG samples on a weekly basis at various locations for testing since early January 2010. The test results of LPG samples are published on the EMSD's website each week," the spokesman said.
