The Government today (January 14) announced the appointment of seven new members and re-appointment of five incumbent members to the Advisory Committee on the Partnership Fund for the Disadvantaged, for a term of two years with effect from February 1.
The seven new members are Mr Ivan Ho Shiu-cheong, Ms Anna Hung Wing-chee, Ms Pandora Pang Suk-yin, Dr Ting Wai-fong, Mr Raymond Wong Ka-ning, Mr Edward Wong Siu-lung and Mr Ivan Yiu Tze-leung.
Mr Ivan Ho Shiu-cheong is Chief Executive Officer of the Centaline Strategic Investments Limited and Director of the Centaline Charity Fund Limited. He has rich experience in community service and is currently the chairperson of the Advisory Committee on Enhancing Employment of People with Disabilities.
Ms Anna Hung Wing-chee is principal of the Caritas Chai Wan Marden Foundation Secondary School and a member of various committees on promotion of volunteerism. She has been extensively involved in community service.
Ms Pandora Pang Suk-yin is chairperson of the HK FamilyLink Mental Health Advocacy Association and a member of the Advisory Committee on Enhancing Employment of People with Disabilities. She is devoted to serving people with mental health problems.
Dr Ting Wai-fong is Associate Head and Associate Professor of the Department of Applied Social Sciences of Hong Kong Polytechnic University and a member of Joint Committee on Information Technology for the Social Welfare Sector. She is highly committed to community service.
Mr Raymond Wong Ka-ning is a pharmacist by profession. He is the founder of Benji's Centre Limited and owner of a social enterprise named Confiserie Benji Limited. He is dedicated to providing assessment as well as training services for children and teenagers with speech and language disorders.
Mr Edward Wong Siu-lung is the Finance Director of Quiksilver Glorious Sun JV Limited. He is a young professional dedicated to helping the disadvantaged.
Mr Ivan Yiu Tze-leung is the Community Services Secretary of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals and is well-respected in the social welfare sector. He is also a member of the Commission on Youth.
Five incumbent members - Ms Teresa Au Pui-yee, Mr Leung Wing-yu, Mr Robert Tai Yiu-wah, Dr Wong Chung-kwong and Dr Samuel Yung Wing-ki - have been re-appointed.
The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, looked forward to members' wise counsel on the development of the Fund and promotion of tripartite partnerships in Hong Kong.
Mr Cheung also thanked the out-going members, the Reverend Dorothy Lau Wai-ling, Mrs Julie Lee Lau Chu-lai, Professor Mok Bong-ho, Ms Theresa Tao Chee-ying, Dr Jimmy Wong Chi-ho, Mr Charles Yang Chuen-liang and Dr Yue Kwok-to, for their sterling contribution to the Fund since its establishment in 2005.
The Advisory Committee, chaired by the Director of Social Welfare, examines applications for the Fund and all matters relating to its operation.
The $200 million fund was established in 2005 to promote the development of tripartite partnerships among the welfare community, the business sector, and the Government to help the disadvantaged. In May 2010, additional funding of $200 million was injected into the Fund to encourage further cross-sector collaboration to help the disadvantaged.
