SLW congratulates newly elected LAB employee members
****************************************************

The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, today (November 27) congratulated the five employee representatives who have been elected to the Labour Advisory Board (LAB) for a two-year term commencing next January.

Mr Cheung said, "As the tripartite consultation platform for employers, employees and the Government, the LAB has conducted in-depth discussions on many important labour issues, and has come up with constructive proposals over the past 60 years and more.

"It is indeed a shining example of tripartite partnership, contributing significantly to the improvement of employee rights and benefits, as well as occupational safety and health.

"The LAB has a vital role to play in facilitating the Government in balancing the interests of both employers and employees in formulating policies."

Mr Cheung looked forward to the LAB's continued collaboration with the Administration in promoting labour relations, safeguarding employee rights and benefits, and enhancing occupational safety and health.

He thanked the out-going member, Mr Tsui Sai-cheung, for his invaluable advice on various labour issues in the past years, including proposals on minimum wage and occupational deafness compensation and measures to improve the enforcement of Labour Tribunal Awards.
