Approved Ping Shan Outline Zoning Plan amended
**********************************************

The Town Planning Board (the Board) today (November 5) announced amendments to the approved Ping Shan Outline Zoning Plan (OZP).

The amendments mainly involve the rezoning of a large area bounded by Long Tin Road, Long Ping Road and West Rail viaduct, which changes from "Undetermined" to "Comprehensive Development Area" intended for residential uses.

The area bounded by Tin Fuk Road, Long Tin Road, Sheung Cheung Wai and Ping Ha Road, in which Tsui Sing Lau Pagoda (a declared monument) and Tat Tak Communal Hall (a Grade I historic building) are located, are rezoned mainly to "Other Specified Uses", annotated "Historical Building Preserved for Cultural and Community Uses" and "Heritage and Cultural Tourism Related Uses", in order to preserve the two historic buildings as local heritage attractions and to facilitate provision of cultural and community facilities for the enjoyment of the public.

Other amendments included revision of the maximum gross floor area and building height restrictions for the public housing site at Hung Shui Kiu near Hung Yuen Road in the Notes for "Residential (Group A)3" zone.

The draft Ping Shan OZP No. S/YL-PS/12, incorporating the amendments, is now available for public inspection during office hours at the Secretariat of the Board, the Planning Enquiry Counters in North Point and Sha Tin, the Tuen Mun and Yuen Long District Planning Office, Yuen Long District Office, and the Ping Shan and Ha Tsuen Rural Committees.

The public can make written representation in respect of the amendments to the Secretary of the Board on or before January 5, 2011. Representations made to the Board will be available for public inspection.

Copies of the draft Ping Shan OZP are available for sale at the Map Publications Centres in North Point and Yau Ma Tei. An electronic version of the plan can be viewed at the Board's website at www.info.gov.hk/tpb/.
