The Chief Executive has appointed the chairman and six members of the Clearing and Settlement Systems Appeals Tribunal (CSSAT) for a term of three years, with effect from November 4, 2010, the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau announced today (November 1).
The appointments, which are made in accordance with the Clearing and Settlement Systems Ordinance (CSSO), are listed as follows:

Mr Nicholas Peter Etches and Mr Mervyn Robert John Jacob are serving members of the CSSAT, while the chairman and other members are newly appointed.
The CSSAT is a statutory tribunal established under the CSSO for the purpose of hearing appeals by any person who is aggrieved by a decision of the Monetary Authority regarding designation of a clearing and settlement system and/or related matters. The CSSAT is a safeguard to ensure that the relevant decisions made under the CSSO are fair and reasonable.
