Approved Yau Ma Tei Outline Zoning Plan amended
***********************************************

The Town Planning Board today (October 29) announced amendments to the approved Yau Ma Tei Outline Zoning Plan (OZP).

The amendments mainly involve imposing building height restrictions for various zones to guide future development/redevelopment in the Yau Ma Tei area.  The main objectives are to provide better planning control on new developments, to meet public aspirations for better living conditions, and for greater clarity and transparency in the statutory planning system.

Other amendments include the specification of building setback requirements and the designation of zero-build zones to allow better air ventilation; also, the rezoning of various sites to reflect completed development/as-built conditions on the sites, or the planning intention for the sites.

The draft Yau Ma Tei OZP No. S/K2/21, incorporating the amendments, is now available for public inspection during office hours at the secretariat of the Town Planning Board, the Planning Enquiry Counters in North Point and Sha Tin, Tsuen Wan and West Kowloon District Planning Office and Yau Tsim Mong District Office.

The public can make written representation in respect of the amendments to the Secretary of Town Planning Board on or before December 29, 2010.  Representations made to the Board will be available for public inspection.

Copies of the draft OZP are available for sale at the Map Publications Centres in North Point and Yau Ma Tei.  An electronic version of the plan can be viewed at the Board's website (www.info.gov.hk/tpb).
