Appointment to Process Review Panel for the Securities and Futures Commission

     The Government announced today (October 29) that the Chief Executive has re-appointed the Chairman and six members as well as appointed three new members to the Process Review Panel for the Securities and Futures Commission, for the period from November 1, 2010 to October 31, 2012.  

     A Government spokesman said: "We are grateful for the dedication that the Chairman, Mr Anthony Chow Wing-kin, and other members of the Panel have devoted over the past years and look forward to their continuing support.

     "The new members, namely Ms Chow Yuen-yee, Professor Richard Ho Yan-ki and Dr Cynthia Lam Kit-lan, are familiar with the operation of Hong Kong's financial market. They will assist the Panel in reviewing and advising the Securities and Futures Commission on the adequacy of the latter's internal procedures and operational guidelines.   

     "We would also like to express our gratitude to the outgoing member, Professor Chan Yuk-shee, for his contribution to the Panel in the past years," the spokesman added.

     The Process Review Panel is an independent body and was established in November 2000. It reviews the internal operation procedures of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), including its licensing, investigative and disciplinary procedures and listing-related matters, to ensure that they are fair and applied consistently by the SFC. The membership represents a good mix of knowledge, experience and expertise from relevant quarters - elements that are conducive to the effective operation of the Panel.

     The membership of the Panel, with effect from November 1, 2010 is as follows:
