36 building plans approved in September

     The Buildings Department approved 36 building plans in September ¡V eight on Hong Kong Island, eight in Kowloon and 20 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, 19 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, 13 were for commercial developments, two were for factory and industrial developments, and two were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 17 building projects that, when completed, will provide 222,602 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 2,867 units, and 36,805 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 10 building projects.

     The department also issued 17 occupation permits ¡V three on Hong Kong Island, five in Kowloon and nine in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor areas for domestic use were 259,323 square metres, involving 2,876 units, and 172,462 square metres for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of the new buildings completed in September totalled about $5.9 billion.

     In addition, 10 demolition consents involving 10 building structures were issued.

     The department received 2,138 complaints against unauthorised building works in September, and issued 982 removal orders on unauthorised works.
