The Yuen Long District Fire Safety Committee under the Home Affairs Department organised the "Yuen Long District Hillfire Prevention Activity" today (October 16) to disseminate hillfire prevention messages during the Chung Yeung Festival.
A hillfire prevention team of 120 volunteers distributed 3,000 bottles of distilled water and handkerchiefs printed with hillfire prevention messages to members of the public at six spots in the district popular for hiking and grave-sweeping, reminding them to put out fires before leaving.
The participating groups were the Yuen Long District Fire Safety Committee, Fire Safety Ambassadors of the Fire Services Department, the Six Rural Committees in Yuen Long, Buddhist Mau Fung Memorial College, the Church of Christ in China Kei Long College, the Jockey Club Eduyoung College, the Civil Aid Service and Hong Kong St John Ambulance Brigade. The six areas were Shap Pat Heung, Kam Tin, Pat Heung, Ha Tsuen, Ping Shan and San Tin.
Today's activity was co-organised by the Fire Services Department and the Yuen Long District Office, and sponsored by the Yuen Long District Council.
