Tracing the footsteps of renowned writers on Southern District Literary Trail (with photo)
******************************************************

Many people may not know that a number of modern writers and contemporary educators wrote about life and the scenery in Southern District while residing in Hong Kong. It was a place of inspiration for Eileen Chang, Dai Wangshu, Xiao Hong, Cai Yuanpei and Xu Dishan.

The Southern District Office and the Southern District Council have traced the footsteps of these renowned authors and educators to line up a "Literary Trail in the Southern District" for the public to revisit the spots where these authors and educators left their mark.

Through this journey of discovery, visitors may gain a new understanding of the minds and thoughts of these literary figures when reading their works.

Moreover, a set of 10 different postcards on the "Literary Trail in the Southern District", together with a brief account of the lives of these authors and educators, has been produced by the District Office and the District Council.

The sketches on the postcards were painted by stamp designer Mr Benny Lau. His work includes the stamps issued for the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2007, Hong Kong Butterflies in 2007 as well as the Alphabet stamps in 2005.

This postcard set will be distributed free to the public from October 18. People may obtain the postcards from the Public Enquiry Services Centres at the 18 District Offices on a first-come-first-served basis.
