The following is issued on behalf of the Liquor Licensing Board:
Members of the Liquor Licensing Board (LLB), led by Board Chairman Mr Felix Fong Wo, visited a number of premises with liquor licences in Tsim Sha Tsui, Wan Chai and Central early this morning (October 10). The purpose was to better understand the operation of different types of premises with liquor licences and enforcement actions by the Police.
During the visit, members were briefed by the Police on various issues related to the regulation of premises with liquor licences, including crowd control, traffic flow, law and order, safety, and noise problems.
Representatives from the Fire Services Department, the Buildings Department and the Environmental Protection Department also joined the visit.
From January to September this year, the Board issued 460 new licences and renewed 3,197 liquor and club liquor licences.
Taking part in the visit were Vice-chairman of the board, Mr Yau How-boa and Board members Mr Kong Wai-yeung, Mr Shum Hon-wo, Mr Wong Ka-wo and Mr Wong Kit-lung.
They were joined by Permanent Secretary for Food and Health (Food), Mrs Marion Lai; Deputy Secretary for Food and Health (Food), Ms Kitty Choi; Deputy Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene (Environmental Hygiene), Ms Vivian Sum; and Assistant Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene (Operations), Mr Lo Fu-wai.
