Public invited to vote in 11th Meritorious Websites Contest
***********************************************************

The online voting for 2010 Meritorious Websites Contest has begun. Members of the public are welcome to cast their votes for healthy websites at www.merit.gov.hk until December 31.

The contest is jointly organised by the Television and Entertainment Licensing Authority, the Education Bureau, the Committee on Home-School Co-operation, Hong Kong Internet Service Providers Association and the Radio Television Hong Kong.  It aims to encourage young people to pay more visits to healthy websites and to recognise the contributions of producers of healthy websites.

This year, over 100 nominations were received, among which 40 were shortlisted for public voting.  Websites obtaining the highest combined scores from public voting and a professional adjudication panel will be chosen as meritorious websites.

Voters who succeed in picking at least eight meritorious websites will be dubbed "Smart Voters" and awarded a $200 book coupon and a souvenir.  In addition, all voters will automatically enter a lucky draw in which a $3,000 cash coupon for electronic products (one prize winner) and limited edition 2GB USB flash drives (150 prize winners) will be given out.  There are also awards for schools and organisations with the highest number of voters.  Staff members and students of organisations and schools are welcome to cast their votes.  Results of the contest and the lucky draw will be announced in early March 2011.

Members of the public are also welcome to participate in an online game, a colouring competition and a graphic illustration competition held under the contest.

A list of the 40 shortlisted websites and further details of the contest are available at www.merit.gov.hk .
