In search of Schumann's love through his music and letters
**********************************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department invites Nancy Loo, Jimmy Shiu and Lo Koon-lan, to perform "Schumann's Love in Words and Music" next month.¡@ Schumann's music lovers may enjoy his piano music with letter recitation (in Cantonese) of Schumann's letter inserted in between pieces.

Schumann is a significant Romantic composer.  He has also left us with a number of letters, some of them love letters with Clara (pianist, then Schumann's future wife), others correspondences with friends.  These letters told a lot about his thoughts and love stories.  In this performance, veteran actress Lo Koon-lan and music promoter Jimmy Shiu will read a selection of letters by Schumann and Clara Wieck, pianist Nancy Loo will play some of Schumann's works.

Works to be performed include "Arabeske, Op. 18", "Romance in F-sharp, Op. 28, No. 2", "Sonata No. 2 in G Minor, Op. 22, Second Movement" and "Widmung (from 'Myrthen, Op. 25')" as well as selections from "Davidbˆ¢ndlertänze, Op. 6", "Fantasiestˆ¢cke, Op. 12", "Kinderszenen, Op. 15", "Fantasie in C, Op. 17" and others.
