The Government welcomed the rulings of the High Court today (September 24) to dismiss the applications by concerned villagers for a Judicial Review against the Government's clearance of their premises at Tsz Tin Tsuen within the clearance boundary of Tuen Mun Area 54 Site 2.
A Government spokesman said: "The Government is committed to carrying out the public housing projects in Tuen Mun Area 54 to achieve the target of three-year average waiting time for some 130,000 applicants on the public housing waiting list. This clearance is to make way for the construction of about 5,000 public rental housing units.
"Preparations to complete the remaining clearance are underway. Since some households may need some time to move out, the Government will consider granting a further grace period to them as necessary according to the merits of their individual circumstances. All statutory procedures for the clearance operation have been duly completed and the clearance operation is in strict compliance with the law."
